ESPN Crew Praises Ryan Elvin’s Essay About His Dad

For the second-straight game, the ESPN+ broadcast crew of Matt Pedersen and Phi Slama Jama point guard Reid Gettys heaped praise on an HOUNIL.com essay and its writer.

Ryan Elvin wrote a poignant essay on losing his father shortly before the 2021-22 season. While Ryan was at the free throw line, Pedersen brought up the essay.

“A heartfelt message yesterday,” Pedersen said. “describing the tragedy of losing his father right before last season.”

“He wrote two articles that I thought were incredibly insightful,” Gettys said during the first half of the Oral Roberts game. “I enjoyed them very much.”
