Houston hosted 14 recruits at Spring practice Wednesday

Spring practice #2 for the Coogs featured another very talented group of recruits on campus. Almost all of the group were from the 2027 class, including a few players who have already set up official visits. It’s a good bet that if Houston is pursuing them, fans should be excited about their potential.

“If Wes Fritz is confident about a player, I trust him”, Coach Brian Bell told me Wednesday after practice.

Wes Fritz has consistently found diamonds in the rough, including the recent Rivals Combine MVP, Raiden Cook. UH has also started winning recruiting battles for top talent, signing players like Keisean Henderson and Paris Melvin in the 2026 class.

Observations

Of the players on campus, Ty Greene from Stratford stood out most to me. Greene first came to my attention when watching Stratford play Randle in the playoffs this past season. He has a massive frame and showed good relative fluidity.

Seeing him in person lends credibility to his 6-foot-6, 290-pound listing. He has tree trunks for legs, and it makes sense why the staff is recruiting him to play on the offensive line. Greene has an official visit set for June 4-6.

I got to see 2028 safety Carter Francis in person this weekend. His technical ability stood out and caught the attention of coaches at the Rivals Combine. Watching his film, he plays with good instincts and makes big hits.

The talent on campus is obviously a good sign. Houston is taking advantage of prospects being on spring break and getting face time with them. Momentum continues to build for the program.
