Galen Robinson has another hustle: he’s now a part owner of GoCoogs.com, adding to roles as a professional basketball player, Substantial Worldwide owner, basketball training coach, and CATS! postgame show co-host.
The Godfather played four years at Houston and is the guy who launched Houston’s basketball turn-around. Galen was the point guard of the 2017-2018 team that won UH’s first NCAA Tournament game in 34 years and captained the 2018-2019 team that won the AAC Championship and went to the Sweet 16.
A second-generation UH basketball star, Galen created the “For The City” slogan, which is synonymous with Houston Basketball. The Houston-born Robinson’s Substantial Worldwide apparel company began marketing the Houston vs. Everybody gear in 2021. Those shirts and hoodies are mainstays at games inside Fertitta Center.
“Houston means the world to me,” Robinson told the Houston Chronicle in 2018. “The city means everything to me.”
In his new ownership role, Galen will be an ambassador for GoCoogs and continue as a co-host of CATS! and will contribute more to the content side of the website.
“Galen is our point guard,” GoCoogs.com publisher Ryan Monceaux said. “He’s going to be a broadcasting star. We are tickled that he’s growing his role with us.”
To discuss his new role and the 2024-25 basketball team’s season, Galen joined Talkin’ Bout Them Cougars Sunday night:
