Is this the busiest July week in UH Men’s Basketball history?
In the last four days, Kelvin Sampson’s program announced:
– they will hold a public scrimmage on August 1, a day before their trip to Australia;
– their non-conference schedule, highlighted by ULM in the opener on November 6th, Rice on December 6th, and the non-conference finale with Penn on December 30th;
– Ryan Elvin and Darius Bowser were named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court; and
– their first-ever Big 12 conference matrix.
The Big 12 opponents include home-and-homes with Texas, Kansas, Iowa State, Cincinnati, and UCF. UH will host Kansas State, Texas Tech, WVU, and Oklahoma State and will travel to Baylor, TCU, OU, and BYU.
It has been 39 years since UH last played at Kansas. UH has never played at Oklahoma but Sooner fans, in their last season in the Big 12, will likely give Sampson and assistant coaches Kellen Sampson, Quannas White, and Hollis Price a king’s welcome. Kellen, White, and Price graduated from OU.
UH last played at Baylor in the final season of the Southwest Conference.
In addition to news from the school, Mattress Mack announced on Thursday that UH players will get another year on their $1 million NIL deal.
