Halftime Thoughts: UCF Game

Mulbah Car flexing

Just some early thoughts:

350 yards in a half – who is this offense? Love everything about it so far.

206 yards on the ground on 28 rushes (7.4 per). Massive! Mulbah Car has been a manchild in this first half. 108 yards on 15 carries (and 2 TDs). Really love watching him run it.

Watching Car and Porter next year will be a lot of fun. And if Tune keeps maturing … ok focus on today, Ryan.

Dana has called an exceptional game so far. Cougars have punted just once in the half.

He did get a little conservative at the end of the half. Every play on the final drive was a run (Tune’s scramble that was called back was intended to be a pass).

The defense is getting beat up on social media and on The Veer. But they’ve played well against an exceptional offense. Getting stops is all you can ask of them.

They’ve forced 3-and-outs three times.

Witherspoon hit three FGs – two from over 40 yards. He’s now at 10-straight made since late in the Tulane game. Very happy for him.

The school record for most consecutive kicks in a season is 13 (Roman Anderson). GoCoogs contributor Matt Hogan has the school record for most consecutive FGs at 16 (over two seasons).

The only issue is the INT. Tune led the safety right to Trahan. Have to be able to look him off or make him commit to the crossing WR.

Can’t wait to see how this team comes out of the half with a chance at a huge upset.
