Behind the scenes after a Houston Basketball practice

Typically, the media does not attend UH Basketball practices. We get post-practice access to coaches and players for media scrums, one-on-one interviews, or background information. Most of what GoCoogs does is gather background info while building relationships, allowing us to do the in-depth and less formal interviews we prefer.

We also get access to the players working on their individual games, usually with an assistant coach or graduate assistant. Players have drills where they must make so many shots in a row or a percentage – usually 75-90%, depending on the drill. Some drills involve all the players in a position group, while others involve just one player at a time.

Access is usually once before every game; if it’s a home game, practice is at Fertitta Center. If it’s a road game, practice is at the Guy V. Lewis Development Facility.
