The Houston Cougars dismantled Western Kentucky Thursday night, 81-57. After WKU took a one-point lead just after halftime, the Cougars put on a clinic and finished the game on a 41-17 run. Quentin Grimes scored 33, a career-high, and topped 1,000 points (Kansas and Houston combined).

Tramon Mark and Marcus Sasser each had 12 while Justin Gorham finished with eight rebounds and a career-high five assists.

UH struggled to find scoring in the first half outside of Grimes. The Cougars endured a 15+ minute stretch where only one shot was made by anyone other than #24. But UH wore out WKU in the second half, dominating the boards and with physical defense. WKU made just seven shots in the last 20 minutes and turned it over 10 times.

Grimes scored 21 in the first half but did not get a single board. Kelvin Sampson obviously challenged him at the half and Grimes stepped up. In addition to his 12 second-half points, Quentin rebounded five of WKU’s 10 missed shots while he was in the game.
