Johnson’s Southern Lab squad (1A) begins their season Friday at 4A Belaire (Baton Rouge). Lab, ranked #2 in the The Advocate‘s Top-10 for 3A and smaller schools, held their jamboree scrimmage last weekend and beat Amite 6-0.

Sofain Massoud – QB
Massoud’s Cy Lakes Spartans came up short against Morton Ranch, 20-14. Massoud, in his Texas high school debut, completed 13 of 31 passes for 219 yards, 1 TD, 1 interception. His longest completion went for 38 yards. He also ran for 35 yards on 15 carries and a TD. Thursday: @ Klein Forest
Kendal Septs – OG
Septs’ FB Austin Bulldogs were taken to the woodshed by Katy Tomkins, 66-14. Chron Cougar beat writer Joseph Duarte says Septs graded out at 92% and had 6 knockdowns and 3 pancake blocks. But the Bulldogs rushed for a total of 102 yards. Not so good. Saturday: @ Mayde Creek

Derek Bowman – OT
Magnolia and Derek Bowman defeated Barbers Hill, 35-10. He had 7 knockdowns as his Bulldogs ran for 365 yards and had 546 total yards. Friday @ Shadow Creek
Adonis Friloux – DT
The Hahnville Tigers (Boutte, La)open their 2019 season Friday at Denham Springs. Hahnville beat Grace King 50-0 in their jamboree last weekend.
Ugonna Nnanna – OT
The Arlington Seguin Cougars lost to Lakeview Centennial – 32-21. No stats available for Nnanna. Thursday: Host rival Mansfield Summit

Dylan Robinson – WR
#3-ranked Atascocita destroyed Katy Taylor, 69-7. Robinson caught an 8-yard TD pass and had 40 yards receiving. The Eagles host the Katy Tigers next Friday at Turner Stadium in what will be a great matchup. Friday: Host Katy
Aidan Martin – K
Klein Cain and Aidan Martin defeated the Cy Park Tigers 56-27. Martin was 8/8 on PATs.
