Cougar DL at Friday Night Lights

A few items we haven’t gotten to this week:

Moore Problems: Today’s indefinite suspension of safety Jordan Moore puts a lot of pressure on the safety and nickel positions this Sunday. I had Moore penciled in at nickel but now that job will fall to either Gervarrius Owens or Grant Stuard. Stuard will get a bunch of reps but I believe Owens will get the nod due to his versatility and physicality. That’s the type of player you want out there in the opening drive to set the tempo.

If you recall, Gervarrius grew up 5 miles from the Palace on the Prairie.

Owens talked about it with us in June:

Moore’s departure also puts added pressure on the defensive line. It will be critical to frustrate the revamped OU offensive line and put pressure on Jalen Hurts. Among the guys that will be in the rotation up front, several coaches pointed out the work that Blake Young and Aymiel Fleming have put in.
