Mulbah Car Makes His Case Vs. OU

Car Load: With Patrick Carr hurt, Kyle Porter started the game for the Cougars but had little success running the ball. By the time Car got his first carry with 7:23 left in the 3rd quarter, Porter had gained just nine yards on 7 carries.

For the first three quarters, Porter danced around in the backfield instead of attacking the hole. He had some success running wide late in the game including his 19-yarder.

Car ran with his usual demeanor – hardnosed and straight ahead – and picked up 6 yards on his first carry. Porter was given the next couple of carries but on 1st down at the 22, Car really went to work. After a one-yard gain, the left side of the line (and Courtney Lark) opened up a big hole for Car to skate through then the RB cut back to go 14 yards to set up first and goal.

On the next play, the line opens up another hole and Car hits it hard and goes left and easily finds the end zone.

On the drive, Mulbah had four carries for 28 yards and a TD.

Early in the next Cougar drive, Car ran on three-consecutive plays again – this time going for 21, 11, and 3 yards. He now had 7 carries for 63 yards and finished with 9 for 76.

Car got the benefit of coming in fresh against a defense that had played 2.5 quarters but his production clearly has earned him extended playing time. A bright spot for the Cougars, no doubt.
