Coogs Dunk All Over Temple On Senior Night

The University of Houston finished their 2021-22 home season in style by steamrolling Temple, 84-46, on Senior Night. Fabian White Jr. scored 26 points and had six rebounds, continuing to build his résumé for AAC Player of the Year. In three games this week, White has scored 75 points with 25 rebounds.

UH jumped out to a 15-0 early lead thanks to a defensive tenacity that Temple seemed unprepared for. The Owls fought back and cut the lead to four midway through the half but the Cougars extended it to 10 at the break. Temple got within 7 points early in the second half but UH came alive and outscored them 51-20 in the final 18:34.

The Cougars wore the throwback uniforms and, fittingly, turned the game into a dunk-fest, reminiscent of Phi Slama Jama. Officially, UH had nine dunks in the game, the highest number of the 21-22 season. Houston had 24 assists on 34 field goals.

In their Fertitta Center finales, Taze Moore scored 19, Josh Carlton had 11 and 8 rebounds, and Kyler Edwards scored nine and had six assists. Jamal Shead had 10 points and 13 assists, the most in his career.

UH moved to 26-4 (15-2 AAC) with just one regular-season game left. The team celebrated the AAC Championship, earned Tuesday night, by cutting down the nets after the game.
