SACK AVE CEO Creates Havoc In The Rice Backfield

“How do you win a game? You stop the quarterback,” D’Anthony Jones told GoCoogs.com this week. “You know what I’m saying? That’s how you win a Super Bowl; that’s how you stop Tom Brady. It’s getting to him with pass rushers.”

A few days later, his words proved prescient: in the 4th quarter of a tied game, Jones came around the left edge on a second down play and got to Rice QB TJ McMahon for a ten-yard sack. The ball came loose and was recovered by Owls LT Clay Servin, who was tackled by Latrell Bankston as he tried to advance it.

On the very next play, Rice faced a long 3rd and 17 from their own 11-yard line. From the other side of the field, Jones went around the right tackle with ease and slapped the ball out of McMahon’s hands as he took him down for a second-straight sack. This fumble was scooped up by Nelson Ceaser and he returned it for a touchdown. After a quiet three quarters, SACK AVE finally showed up: all three UH sacks came in the fourth quarter.

That score would prove to be the game-winner after a crazy final three and a half minutes.
