A source close to All-American safety Jordan Rogers tells me that he is visiting the UH football program today. Rogers is a transfer target from Willie Fritz’s alma mater, Pittsburg State.
Despite the recent change that designates a specific window for D2 players, Rogers entered the portal in May before the rule was approved. He has been awaiting an NCAA decision after petitioning for a waiver to earn another year of eligibility. Rogers suffered an injury two games into the 2022 season.
Rogers received the waiver on June 8 and will be immediately eligible to play in the 2026 season. The source told me that Houston expressed interest when he entered the portal. Rogers has already visited Boise State and UNT.
He is originally from Bellmead, TX, and attended La Vega High School. Rogers is a ball-hawking safety who recorded 15 interceptions, including two pick-sixes, in 38 games over the last 3 seasons. He also recorded 10 pass breakups and forced four fumbles last season.
Rogers is an aggressive player both in coverage and when closing on ball carriers. His style of play will likely slot him into the STAR/nickel position and compete with Tulane transfer Javion White for snaps.

It will likely take him some time to adjust to a new program, but at the very worst, Rogers provides immediate depth and experience in the secondary. I’m told that “Houston is a place he would take seriously” regarding his new home.
This is a situation to monitor.
