Welcome to our season-four kickoff and episode #85 of the No Conference for Old Men Podcast.
GoCoogs.com Basketball Editor Jayme Hollingsworth joins the Old Men to preview the Houston Cougars Men’s Basketball team heading into the 2026-27 season. We recorded this episode before most preseason rankings and analytics sites updated. But even with only 1 of 5 starters returning, that one is still JoJo Tugler (national DPOY candidate). Add to that a number of highly experienced & hungry non-P4 stars coming in from the Transfer Portal, plus the #1 HS Center, and we believe this year’s team will bring us back to those J’wan Roberts-type Houston teams!
Please watch or listen as we break down the team ahead of the season opener. The team is experienced, loaded with hungry dawg-type personalities, and poised to return the Coogs to our offensive-rebounding/defensive-demon roots that define Kelvin Sampson teams. So fans should be ready for another fun, exciting journey toward March Madness!
