A popular topic at Big 12 Media Days posed to UH head coach Dana Holgorsen was the quarterback situation. The Coogs must replace a 40+ game starter in Clayton Tune and two players are in the running: Texas Tech transfer Donovan Smith and Lucas Coley, a former Arkansas transfer himself.
Despite a report that the decision was “pretty defined,” Dana Holgorsen told a story in his press conference about asking Case Keenum about naming a starter. Keenum said he should not and encourage the competition. “Just let them compete,” Holgorsen attributed to Keenum.
“I’m not concerned with it right now,” Dana said on stage. “They’ve been 50/50, and we knew they were going to be 50/50, and they’re going to continue to be 50/50 until one just makes it clear.”
At the end of the day’s activities, Dana took more questions on the topic in his breakout session.
