Receivers are all-in on Coach Derrick Sherman

During our one-on-one sit-downs with players last week, GoCoogs asked wide receivers about their position coach, Derrick Sherman. In casual conversations over the last few months, it was apparent that the group is unusually close to Sherman.

In addition to coaching the receivers, Sherman is also the assistant head coach. He’s worked for head coach Willie Fritz at Georgia Southern as a graduate assistant and twice at Tulane: as an analyst and then as running backs (2022) and receiver coach (2023).

“When you work for Coach Fritz, or you’re part of this program, you’re going to know exactly what is expected,” Sherman said in the spring.

“I know what he expects, and I know how he wants it done,” Sherman said.

Fall camp begins Wednesday morning at 7:30.
