DOG Brandon Mack is back from injury

Linebacker Brandon Mack transferred from Ole Miss a year ago to get more pass-rush opportunities. But in his second game, at Rice, he tore his lat and missed the rest of the season.

Now in his sixth collegiate season, Mack is back: he’s got a new coaching staff, jersey number (4), and position. In Shiel Woods’ defense, Mack is a DOG, a hybrid linebacker-DL similar to the BANDIT position in Doug Belk’s scheme. DOGs meet with both the linebackers and defensive line depending on coverages. Mack, Nadame Tucker, and Torren Coppage-El should be the main contributors at DOG.

Mack spoke to GoCoogs.com about his injury, how he handled it mentally and emotionally, his new position, DL coach Oscar Giles, and more.
