Not everything works out like you plan it. Take Sunday, for instance: media members that wanted it had an opportunity to speak with Kelvin Sampson and a few select players. After Kelvin finished, he headed for the team bus, ready to depart for Austin.
Two players were left in the Guy V. Lewis Development Facility lobby to be interviewed: Jamal Shead and Emanuel Sharp. I’d spoken to Jamal the day before and had questions for Emanuel. So, while the other two media guys talked with Jamal, I grabbed Emanuel.
One person speaking in that lobby creates quite an echo so, talking to Sharp while Shead was holding court wasn’t an option. While Kelvin spoke, I decided that after he finished, Emanuel and I would step into the elevator to talk.
And it almost worked! The only issue was Kelvin Sampson was ready to go.
Emanuel had to walk about 150 yards to get to the bus; he was the last on it. The team was on the road within two minutes of the video ending.
