Houston is adding another grad transfer
Recent Texas Tech graduate Gio Pancotti is planning a move back home to Houston to play for the Cougars. The offensive guard played his high school ball at Episcopal and will have two years to play after graduating from Tech in 3 years (one as a redshirt).
He was ranked the #52 offensive lineman in the class of 2016 when he chose Tech over Oklahoma State, Kansas State, TCU, Texas, Baylor, A&M, and Houston.
On May 1st, Pancotti announced he was leaving Tech.

In the spring of 2018, Pancotti was moved from tackle to guard in Tech’s offense and was pleased by the move.
“I like banging around inside and pulling for plays,” Pancotti told the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. “It’s kind of helped out also in pass (protection) because I’m able to have two people beside me to help me out. I think guard is where I’m going to play in the future and I’m really enjoying it so far.”
He played sparingly for Tech last year, appearing in just three games, and was a second-team Academic All-Big 12 honoree.
“He’s a big, physical, athletic guy that gives you everything he’s got every snap, and that’s something you can work with,” then-Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury said about Pancotti in spring 2018.
Brandon Jones, UH’s co-OC and offensive line coach, was also his position coach at Tech.
“Coach Jones and all the coaches know I’m pretty strong,” Pancotti said, “so they want me to transfer that onto the field.”
