The Cougars won a hard-fought game over SMU on Sunday, 70-48. UH led by just four at the break before dominating the second half, beating the Ponies on the boards 28-11. Houston did not allow an SMU offensive rebound in the final 25 minutes.
Marcus Sasser scored 19 while Justin Gorham had 9 points and 17 rebounds. Reggie Chaney hit every shot he took (4/4 FG, 2/2 FT) and scored 10 and pulled down five boards.
