Houston Cougar Football will begin its last season in the American Athletic Conference this Thursday when AAC Media Day occurs. Six days later, players will officially report for preseason camp.
UH is coming off of a historic 12-2 season that saw the Coogs go undefeated at home (5-0) and on the road (6-0). 2021 was the second time UH has ever gone undefeated in true home and road games (Houston was 1-2 in “neutral” games, including the Texas Tech game at NRG, the AAC title game at Cincinnati, and the Birmingham Bowl). UH went 6-0 at home and 6-0 on the road in 2011 (The C-USA championship game was officially neutral).

This will be the second year of the NCAA’s slimmed-down Fall camp rules. As of last year, the NCAA limits preseason:
– scrimmages to just two,
– contact practices to 18,
– full-pads days to 9.
Only 75 minutes of full contact is allowed in any practice session, and teams cannot have more than two consecutive days of full-contact practices.
UH is 40 days away from kickoff vs. UTSA at the Alamodome. UH will play nine games in Texas. Game times have been announced for six of the 12 regular-season games.
