Murphy was a starter at Tech, UCLA
Former UCLA & Texas Tech OL Justin Murphy has transferred to UH. He will be a 6th-year grad transfer for the Cougars.
Murphy signed with Tech in February 2014 and redshirted that fall. He made four starts as an RS-freshman in 2015 before an ACL injury against Baylor ended his season. He made eight more starts in 2016 before tearing the same ACL again, forcing his medical retirement.
In April of last year, Murphy announced on social media that he was returning to football and would be a grad transfer at UCLA.
Looks like I'm headed to LA! Go Bruins! ? #UCLA

He started the first four games of 2018 at UCLA (3 at RG, 1 at RT) before undergoing an arthroscopic procedure on his knee to clean up cartilage damage. He came off the bench in the Bruins’ last two games of the season.
After one season in Westwood, Murphy is on the move again, this time to join recent Texas Tech OL grad transfer Gio Pancotti at Houston. UH OL coach Brandon Jones served as OL coach at Tech in 2017-2018 but did not coach Murphy on the field.
UH recruited the 6’6″ athlete out of Belton High School. Murphy also had offers from Oklahoma State, Rice, SMU, and others.
