UH offensive coordinator Kevin Barbay’s unit struggled to put anything together Saturday night against UNLV. Every position group had a hand in the 27-7 thrashing.
After Wednesday’s practice, Barbay said in an interview that he needed to be more committed to the run, that the staff needed to put quarterback Donovan Smith into better situations, and that his guys must be better on first and second down to make third downs more manageable. The Cougars were 2/15 on third down, and the average attempt was over 9 yards.
“In the future, we will run the ball more than what we did on Saturday,” Barbay said. Listen to the entire interview:
