Trainer John Houston discusses J’Wan Roberts’ knee injury

John Houston has worked in the background as the athletics trainer for Houston Cougar Basketball for more than a quarter of a century. His official title is Associate AD for Sports Medicine, and he’s worked for six of the nine head coaches in UH history.

He’s one of the unheralded heroes of UH Hoops, specializing in the management, prevention, and recovery of injured players. He is the link between the injured athlete, the team physician, Kelvin Sampson, and his staff.

Sunday evening, GoCoogs talked to Houston about J’Wan Roberts’ injury. J’Wan was held out of most of the second half of the UCF win, a precaution that Kelvin Sampson was his decision. Sampson expects Roberts to play in Provo on Tuesday night.
