Houston’s April 11th practice saw a large group of recruits out to watch the Cougars. Current signees, 2027 commits, and future targets from the 2027, 2028, and 2029 classes were all on hand.
Three visitors to watch
2027 CB Kameron Roberson from Cy Springs saw his recruitment spike in January; he went from six to now 29 offers. Roberson recently dropped a top 5, and Houston made the cut. Houston offered him the earliest of the five, back in June 2025. The other 4 schools came in since the national title game. He has an official visit set for the end of May with the Coogs.
Roberson is very sticky in coverage and has good speed. His highlight reel shows his ability to mirror receivers off the line of scrimmage and stay in their hip pocket. He teamed with UH freshman Paris Melvin Jr. to win the state title in the 4x100m relay. Roberson’s relationship with Paris could be a deciding factor.
2027 ATH Ashton Stark made the trip out from Lutcher, Louisiana, to watch practice and attend wide receiver and special teams meetings before practice. Stark told me that he has a good relationship with wide receivers coach Brian Bell (something I seem to be writing pretty often). This was his first trip to UH, and he liked what he saw.
Stark will be back in Houston June 4th-6th for his official visit. He is listed as a wide receiver, but he also plays cornerback and returns kicks. His shiftiness in space and acceleration to get to his top speed almost instantly are impressive to watch. This program has done a great job of scouting Louisiana and finding great talent, and Stark could be the next “Bayou2BayoUH” guy.
2028 Waller quarterback TK Gaines is one of the more highly recruited QBs in the country and has attended multiple practices this spring. Both Rivals and 247 have him ranked in the top-10 quarterbacks nationally. He recently received an offer from Florida on an unofficial visit. It’s early in the process, but it’s a good sign for the Coogs that he is spending time on campus.
The staff has proven that they can land big fish at the position. Keisean Henderson in 2026, and Braden Baker recently joined the 2027 class. I believe that Baker will be elevated to a four-star recruit at some point in his senior year, and Gaines could be the next high-end signal caller in line. UH is building a trend of keeping local quarterback talent home.
