A look at players who will appear for Big 12 Media Days

Each of the Big 12’s 14 teams will bring 4-5 players to Arlington for Media Days to get the “carwash” experience. We highlight some of those players:

UH’s contingent:

DL Nelson Ceaser

• Scored an 11-yard fumble recovery TD against Rice last year,
marking him as the first Cougar to register one since the 2020
season.
• Made 11 starts at defensive end in 13 appearances during the 2022
season.
• One of two Houston players with a fumble recovery, forced fumble
and an interception.

OL Jack Freeman

• Started all 13 games of the 2022 campaign at center.
• Has only allowed five sacks in 1,087 opportunities during his
collegiate career.
• Supported the Cougar squad that finished last season ranked No.
25 nationally in total offense (455.8).

LB Hassan Hypolite

• Appeared in 10 contests last season before facing injury.
• Recorded a season-high four stops against SMU on Nov. 5, 2022.
• Named a team captain for 2021 and 2022 seasons.

OL Patrick Paul

• Two-time All-AAC First Team honoree (2021-22) and the first UH
OL since 2010-11 to earn multiple first-team all-league accolades.
• Started all 13 games at left tackle and recorded 921 total snaps.
• Voted the nation’s No. 2-graded pass blocker among tackles by
PFF in 2022 (91.1).
 

Other players of note that will be available Wednesday:

QB Blake Shapen (Baylor)
• Saw action in all 13 games, throwing for 2,790 yards and 18
touchdowns.
• Registered a season-high 345 yards and two touchdowns at
Oklahoma State last season
• Completed 63.3% of passes a season ago, which is the fifth-best
percentage in a single season in program history.

QB Jalon Daniels (Kansas)
• Voted the 2023 All-Big 12 Preseason Offensive Player of the Year
and selected to the Preseason Offensive Team.
• Set the Liberty Bowl touchdown record after recording a total of
six against Arkansas while going 37-of-55 for 544 yards to set a
KU record.
• Rushed for 425 yards which was the second-most from a Jayhawk
and scored seven touchdowns in 2022.

WR Brennan Presley (Oklahoma State)
• Selected to the 2022 Academic All-Big 12 First Team for the second
straight year.
• Ranked among the top five players in the Big 12 in receptions per
game, receiving yards per game and combined kick return yards.
• Finished 2022 with 67 catches for 813 yards, both of which led the
team, and two receiving touchdowns. His 1,203 all-purpose yards
were 440 more than any other Cowboy.

QB Kedon Slovis (BYU)
• Appeared in 38 games with 37 starts in four seasons (USC 2019-
21, Pitt 2022).
• Holds a 66% (836-1,268) career pass rate for 9,973 yards, 68
touchdowns and 33 interceptions.
• His 9,973 career passing yards to rankNo. 13 among active
quarterbacks in the FBS.

CB Josh Newton (TCU)
• Named to the All-Big 12 First Team (2022) after starting all 15
games.
• Second-most PBU’s (12) and INT’s (3) on the team.
• Posted a season-best three pass breakups to go with four tackles
against Texas Tech.

WR Xavier Worthy (Texas)
• Started 25 career games and has 21 career touchdown receptions,
third all-time in Texas Football history.
• 2022 All-Big 12 Second Team member.
• Fastest Longhorn to 100 career receptions with his first catch
against Kansas State in his 21st career game.
