The Cougars were never in danger in their 68-58 win over Boise State. UH controlled the game early on and built the lead to as much as 20 in the second half. But Kelvin Sampson’s team let off the accelerator late and let Boise sneak back to within seven.

Quentin Grimes, after a poor shooting performance in the opener, finished with 25 points to lead all scorers. Redshirt freshman J’wan Roberts had 14 rebounds in 21 minutes of play. DeJon Jarreau had six points but more importantly, shut down the MWC Preseason Player of the Year Derrick Alston. Alston was held to 0/6 shooting and two turnovers.

The Cougars will play #14 Texas Tech Sunday in Fort Worth.
