66-15: Cougars embarrass the Longhorns in 1988

On November 5, 1988, UH went to Austin and put 66 points on the Texas Longhorns. It’s tied for the most points surrendered by UT since 1904 (UCLA, 1997).

Chuck Weatherspoon ran for 218 yards on just 11 carries, while Andre Ware threw for five touchdown passes. Jason Phillips caught 11 passes, four of them for scores, and finished with 171 yards. A year after he set an NCAA record with 3 INTs returned for touchdowns, Johnny Jackson had two more interceptions of Texas QBs.

Here are game stories, photos, great headlines, gifs, videos, and the box score to tell the whole story.
