An inside look at UH’s practice round before the Icon Invitational

GoCoogs.com tagged along with the Houston Cougars women’s golf team during their practice round for the Icon Invitational at the Golf Club of Houston. UH head coach Lydia Gumm has put together an impressive field, with 11 of the 16 teams in the field in Golfstat’s latest Top 50 rankings.

Here’s an inside look at the Cougar players that are competing and a glimpse of how a collegiate golf practice round works.

For this year’s tournament, Gumm secured a sponsorship with Chevron, which is moving the LPGA’s first major of the season to Carlton Woods in the Woodlands. Part of the sponsorship agreement is that the winner of the Icon gets an invitation to play in the Chevron Championship’s Pro-Am on April 18.

The 54-hole event begins play Monday at 8 a.m. with the first two rounds, and the final 18 holes will be Tuesday morning. It’s a free event, and fans are encouraged.
